2. Anniversary of the death of Venerable Elisabetta Sanna: 2011

The anniversary of the death of Venerable Elisabetta Sanna, which falls on February 17th, was celebrated two days later this year on the 19th and was exceptionally well-attended. Fr. Jacob Nampudakam, the Rector General of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate, was the main concelebrant at the Holy Eucharist, and during the homily he underlined the fact that 'this tremendous example of woman, widow, mother, notwithstanding her physical disadvantages, lived a life of communion with God, with others and with herself'. At the end of the Mass Mr. Gianfranco Casu, the President of the Sardinian Committee for the Beatification shared with those present his own devotion to the Servant of God and he informed them of the preparation of a new book on her. The Postulator, Fr. Jan Korycki spoke of the diocesan process of investigation into a cure attributed to the intercession of the Venerable which is taking place in Brazil. Thanking the participants, he remarked upon the commitment of the President and Vice-President of the Association of Sardinians of Rome, "Il Gremio", Antonio Masia and Giovanni Battista Sotgiu, who were present at the Liturgy, to the Cause of Beatification. Our prayer to implore the grace of the beatification of the Venerable was animated by a new Sardinian male choir called Su Cuncordu Corronzanesu, under the direction of Mr. Luigino Cossu. 3. Apostolato Universale - N.18

In the month of October 2007, about 200 copies of the periodical "Apostolato Universale", n.18/2007, were sent out to the subscribers around the world. This issue will consist of 80 pages with various contributions of historical and formative characters and will also touch upon the present situation.  Some of the articles are: a historical contribution on the death and the tomb of St.Vincent Pallotti, the presentation of the community "Laienverband des Katholischen Apostolates Vinzenz Pallottis", and an article on formation according to the General Statutes of the Union of Catholic Apostolate. Particularly worth mentioning are the texts of the three conferences presented during the meetings of study and formation, which have tried to deepen this year the mystery of divine love on the basis of the booklet "God the Infinite Love" of St. Vincent Pallotti. As we do in all issues, there is also a collection of all the Pallottine publications of the period from January to June 2007. We hope that the issue 18/2007 will be of help in enriching our knowledge of Pallotti and his spirituality.

7. Definitive approval of teh UAC General Statutes

14 novembre 2003 - Il presidente del Pontificio Consiglio per i Laici,  Mons. Stanisław Ryłko, consegna a D. Séamus Freeman, SAC il Decreto di erezione dell'UAC As you already know the General Statutes of the UAC were approved in 2003 for a five year period ‘ad expermentum’.  The draft text of the definitive Statutes was approved during the Extraordinary General Assembly of 2007 and was presented to the Pontifical Council for the Laity for consideration, the notification of the definitive approval was communicated in a letter to the General Secretariat of the UAC on May 2nd.  The letter includes some observations on minor modifications which will be discussed and incorporated into the text in the course of the annual meeting of the General Coordination Council which will take place in Grottaferrata from May 12th to 16th.

8. Entrance ceremony of Archbishop Henryk Hoser in the Diocese

On June 28, 2008 at the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel took place the entrance ceremony of Archbishop Henryk Hoser in the Diocese of Warsaw-Prague which was attended among others also by the Rector General, the Vicar General and the Secretary General. The Diocese covers half of the city of Warsaw and extends for 60 km to the east. The inhabitants are almost 1.2 million (1.1 million Catholics), there are more than 450 priests, more than 200 religious priests and more than 1300 nuns who live and work in the diocese. The parishes are about 160. Let us accompany Msgr. H. Hoser with our prayers in his service as Pastor of the Church.

9. Assembly of the Union of Major Superiors

The Biannual Assembly of the Union of Major Superiors took place from 27 to 29 May 2009; participants were: the Rector General Fr. F. Kretz and the Consultor General Fr. G. Orsolin. The Assembly analysed and reflected on geographical and cultural changes existing both in the world and in the Catholic Church, what are the consequent challenges and prospects, particularly for consecrated life. The peculiar points were highlighted in the reports made by the representatives of the various cultural experiences. It was noted in particular the shifting of ecclesial growth from Europe to the Southern areas of the world, and the phenomenon of internationalisation of consecrated life communities.

10. Assembly of the French Region "Mercy of God" (FR)

From 3 to 5 December 2007, the Ordinary Assembly of the French Region "Mercy of God" (FR) was held. In a very fraternal atmosphere the members of the Region - 22 out of the 28 members of the Region present at the Assembly - dealt with the very complex questions related to pastoral works in France and, in a particular manner, they reflected upon the special situation of the Pallottine Centre at Osny, close to Paris. Fr. Janusz Łuczak, Secretary General, also participated in this Assembly as Delegate of the Rector General.
